OGKRC Track Chat - Information Needed

IT'S BACK!

Track Chat is soon to be on the air again but we need your help to do it.

We have found an editor and he is eagerly awaiting all your photos, story ideas, race reports, driver profiles, etc.

As Mick Fisher says "I would like to make Track Chat bigger and better than ever" - how can you argue with that?

1 July 2010 - Transponders are now COMPULSORY

Effective from 1 July 2010, each competitor must have their own transponder which must be used whilst competing - there will be no exceptions. This is an AKA directive which was issued last year.

Transponders are available for purchase directly through the VKA - OGKRC does not have transponders available for purchase. We will not be selling off the club's transponders - they are a set and do not come with individual chargers therefore we are unable to sell them nor will we be selling new transponders.

AKA National Treasurer, Max Laybutt recently said “The use of transponders at race events sanctioned by the AKA across the country will become compulsory on July 1. This date is not changing, it is happening and karters should get in now to ensure they get their transponder at the discounted rate and are ready to race”

With the implementation of the compulsory transponders from July 1 host clubs will have the ability to provide direct and live timing to people at race meetings on your own laptop, post the results on the AKA website, and on Mylaps, the AMB Information site, as soon as the results are uploaded to the AKA Site they will also go to Mylaps.

PLEASE NOTE: At both All Stars Round 3 (17-18 July) and the July Club Day (and all club days following this) all drivers must have a transponder fitted to their kart. You will need to purchase your transponder directly from VKA.

Follow Hughesy's Progress in France

Oakleigh's own Adam Hughes is representing Australia for the second time! This time he is in France racing at the Bruno Grana International Trophy in a Leopard X30.

A Final race report can be read HERE - Mitchener taking the win in his category but unfortunately Adam DNFed the final.

Australia has been represented extremely well by these 2 and it just goes to show that Oakleigh and Australia produce some high quality kart drivers!

Winning Ways continue for Oakleigh Karters.

Winning Ways continue for Oakleigh Karters. 2 Green Plates from 2010 AKA Nationals.

Oakleigh Go Kart Racing Club wishes to congratulate the two latest National Champions to come from Oakleigh. Both Josh Brooker and James Sera recorded victories at the recent AKA Nationals at the Eastern Lions Circuit in Puckapunyal.

After one of the most exciting Finals seen in years, Oakleigh's James Sera held out recently promoted Junior Jordan Ford and his cousin David Sera to claim victory in the hotly contested Clubman Light Field. Also on Easter Sunday Josh Brooker crossed the line first in Clubman Super Heavy but was subsequently ruled out after a Steward's Hearing. Josh appealed the result and after travelling to a hearing in Sydney recently, was awarded the Clubman Super Heavy title.

A great result for both drivers and the club congratulates them on their green plates.

High Vis Yellow/Green clothing required

As of the 1st of March all pit crew are required to have their own Yellow/Green His Vis clothing or Saftey Vest on the In / Out Grid and when entering any of the tracks.

New Lost Starter

Tony Sharpe is a new member and only had his first day with his son at the track on June 12. Unfortunately they left the starter behind and do not what brand it is but was purchased from MKC. Possibly the only identifiable feature is that the drive has a male hex fitting which is fitted and held in place with heat shrink.

They left the track at around 4-4.30 and there were still people at the track - if you have any information about this starter can you please contact Tony on 0419 163 898.

Lost Starter

A MKC blue starter with a large piece of wide, black duct tape on the back. Unfortunately there was no name on it! It was left at the track on the 18th April, by the stack of tyres in the middle of the start of the pit gate. There were only a couple of other groups there at the time. Sally went to the track at 9am the next day, but it was gone.

Any help please contact Sally 0400 072 698 or Terry 0458 387 000.
